More About Sharon
Sharon was born in Advance, Missouri. Her father passed away when she was about 2 years old. Her mother remarried shortly thereafter. The family of three moved to what Sharon calls her hometown, Dowagiac, Michigan. She was raised as an only child until the birth of her brother when she was 11 years old. She has very few memories of her childhood. She spent much time with her extended family throughout her childhood and teenage years. She has since come to realize much of her extended family came from abusive environments, which led to unhealthy relationships and an atmosphere of co-dependency. In the midst of this, Sharon experienced being bullied and abused, which resulted in her development of a sense of low self-esteem, a “less than mentality,” and her sense of shame.
Shortly after her 16th birthday, she dropped out of school. However, a few positive influences in her life allowed her to regroup and earn her high school diploma by attending night school. She then attended Oakland City University (Oakland City, Indiana) and completed her BA in Education. It was at OCU that she met her husband, Steve. Sharon and Steve have been married over 40 years and have raised 4 children: Andrew, Terrell, Christana, and Joseph. Sharon is proud of her children and enjoys healthy relationships with each of her daughters-in-law (Andrew’s Rebecca, Terrell’s Sarah, and Joe’s Mia). She also cherishes the time she gets to spend with each of her 7 grandchildren.
She has a varied work history in education, social work, and ministry. Most recently, she has developed a passion for teaching and ministering to women who have experienced trauma, abuse, and addiction.

It has taken many years for Sharon to heal, embrace God’s grace, and learn to walk in her true identity in Christ. She wishes for others to find the same. She has co-founded Nevertheless Ministries intending to take on this mission. The ministry exists to empower others in their personal relationship with Jesus and walk in their true identity in Him.
